Lonely Queen

I dance through the vines

The trees reach out with whiplash arms

I laugh at their evil designs

Motion with a finger and they’re decapitated at my command

I’m the monarch of everything, of earth and sky

The power at my fingertips make me want to laugh, want to cry

My castle sits on a hill

With parapets and towers and knights I can command at will

I’m queen which sometimes means walking on glass

But really, instead I wish I could run barefoot in the grass

These dresses start to get cumbersome and I grow lonely

I want my jeans and friends back

The silent knights are my only company

and I forsook my armchair for a throne

Oh, I’m tired of being queen

I want to wake up and realize it’s all a dream
