Princess on the ground

In bold

In italicized italics

I professed my deep love to you

I sang my childish dreams to you

I spun gold from straw

and made you my king

I was your queen

but one with want of jewels

For you would not give me them

you kept them encased in wooden chests

I told myself to make do

with the irregular pearls you would throw at me

But they were not enough

Not enough for me

I gave you everything

And you acted as if

it was a favor when you were kind

Finally my hurt was a whirlpool

so I stood on the edge

of my tower window

I flew

And broke on the rocky ground

While you laughed over my shattered body
