Mechanical Man

He couldn’t cry.

He couldn’t hurt.

He couldn’t die.

All he needed was

oil to keep away the rust.

But he was lonely,

lonely enough to wish to

spontaneously combust.

His metal mouth

could make no sound.

And he could only watch

what was going on around.

Stuck in his cage,

too scared to talk.

Locked away inside,

keeping himself “safe.”

He slowly began to erode away…..
